Hi, I raise German Shepherds and Shelties. They are wonderful dogs.

So true...I love both breeds. I'm reading the The Art of Raising a Puppy by The Monks of New Skete and enjoying their experiences with shepherds.

the original version? or the new one? They have changed many of their more "dominant" tactics in favor of more positive methods. They also strongly advise AGAINST alpha rolls in their new books.
I do love how the dogs are part of everyday life from the moment they are weaned

I happen to LOVE when the puppy owners to be call/email etc me all the time. I dont care if its over the littlest thing, it lets me know they care and are excited. I stay in touch with all my puppy parents after they go home too, and I get bummed when I dont hear from them much.

Revised one...I really enjoyed reading about puppy development in the new one and LOTS of photos. It has been 15 years since we did the puppy thing so I need to re-educate myself on the "early days".
BTW I saw your photos on the GSD thread...two gorgeous dogs you have!

That's what our breeder says too...and she is so helpful and patient. I think breeders are very special people
