So I just made another thread and I realized it would also be a great update. So excuse the copy and paste but
So I am dealing with fowl pox. My poor rooster has had it for a month now. I already lost one hen. Unbeknownst at the time it had become wet pox. My roo should have been better by now and he was noticably loosing weight. So I checked his throat and sure enough lesions. One was a bump so big it was threatening his breathing. I have a concoction I make for sore throats. I have even cured strep throat with one extra ingredient. It dawned on me, why not try it for my birds. Another hen also had wet pox but the lesions weren't as bad. Well I used it. I gave them some in the morning and another dose after they cooped up to give it time to soak into the tissues. In 2 days I checked his throat the lesions were gone. The lesions are also gone on my hen. This was the day before yesterday. Today my rooster is noticably gaining weight back. No lesions have returned. Tomorrow I am going to dose my whole flock just to be safe. I'm thinking maybe pull their food and water and give them this concoction shortly before they coop up. I can always put food and water back once they are in the coop. I thought I should share this in case anyone else can use it.
Sorry, recipe removed for patent reasons. Please, pm me if you are in desperate need. I will need video of your flock and clear evidence of the throat lesions.
Chickens gobble this up.
The only thing is that really sick birds will take one bite and then they are done. The active ingredient (a root plant) has a burning sensation as it kills bacteria. My sick birds stopped eating it willingly. I put a gob of it on the side of their beak and they eat it.
I hope this can help someone else like it helped me..
