My flock has become infected with fowl pox. All my hens are vaccinated for it so I never thought they could still get it. From the research I’ve done it’s dry pox. So do anyone you know what I can do to comfort them since there is no real cure?
There was a huge amount of mosquitoes that spawned during the rainy season and since there’s a lot of grassland/wetland behind our property we had a lot. One of my Salmon Favorelle was the one whom started with them first but I thought they where dried scabs due to one of my hens pecking at her but now I’ve noticed that all my hens have a least one of two dots on their combs. 😕
I’ll upload some photos this evening.
I vaccinated my hens at 8weeks of age and only 4 have turned a year this October . The rest will be a year of age next year. My pullets are ranging in age 4 months-3years. My two older hens where vaccinated when I introduced my 3 Wyandotte’s to their flock of 2.

Pictures are always helpful. Most chickens who have had pox or who have had successful vaccines, should be immune to that particular strain of pox. If a new strain is spread by the mosquitoes, then they could still get it. Dried dropped scabs can be infectious for months later. Here is a good article about pox:

Would it be recommended to remove any of my hens who don’t have any lesions yet?
