I have 3 BO hens and 1 BO rooster with this fowl pox. I had separated my rooster form the flock and just give him 3 hens for 2 weeks and change them out with 3 more. I have a total of 9 hens. These 3 are ready to be changed out but I can't since I noticed some sores on one of them a few days ago. I thought maybe the girls were fighting but the sores got worse and now all three hens have them and the rooster has some white spots on his wattles. I've put some healing salve on them (calendula flowers, comfrey leaves and plantain leaves all steeped in coconut oil with bees wax to harden) and I'm giving them oatmeal liberally laced with garlic twice a day. Since raw garlic is anti-viral, I'm hoping this will help the pox pass quickly. How long is the incubation period? Were my other hens, and 12 week old chicks that live with them, exposed to it already? None the others are showing any signs of fowl pox.
I also have chickens in other coops. Will I pass the infection on to my other chickens as I go from coop to coop? I have babies too that I don't want to pass any infection to.
