FOX almost got my babies!

people are setting off fireworks around my neighborhood all the time, and my neighbors they all know about this fox and are willing to help. They are in on the plan! they do have a covered run, which I feel like they are safe in. I mean obviously if a fox wants to get in he will get in by tearing through the screen door and jumping and ripping the netting that covers the top of the run. I am exploring options, biophiliac would something like this be harmful to my pup if she runs into it cause she is on the not so bright side lol.

A high powered pellet guns will do the job. If you shoot for the vitals it will kill them. If you shoot in the rump it will give them second thoughts.

Keep em locked up for a couple of days and set a trap. Isn't it unusual to see a fox during the day? A fox that isn't sick anyway?

false, foxes will hunt whenever most viable... usually yes they do hunt dusk to dawn BUT during kitting season they will hunt more often and anytime of the day to try to find a meal to feed their kits... so no it doesn't automatically mean that you have a sick fox on your hands...

Don't think there would be any short or long term harm to a dog or pup. The shock will teach her to avoid it. That is what it is for, keeping dogs and other predators out. Maybe you want her to avoid the chickens? The only reservation I would have is if the dog is EXTREMELY oversensitive/fearful, might make it worse.

I spoke with them and was told that I could set a trap and if I was to catch one to call them and they would come pick up and re-locate them somewhere in the county. I am worried sick tho that he will come back and find my girls
A while back someone on this forum was having predator problems with their chickens. This poster trapped numerous chicken assassins using a so called "animal shelters" humane equipment. The trap was returned to the animal shelter with the living breathing predator inside. While the poster watched from the parked car the rear door of the animal shelter opened and a "humane" shelter employee emerged carrying the trap with the predator inside and "relocated" the chicken assassin not 3 blocks from where it was first trapped.

I spoke with animal control last night and they stated I could box trap it and than call them to have them re-locate the little devil. He didn't come around last night, the chicks did stay cooped up tho as it rained all day so maybe a good thing. I have some left over fireworks that I could use that maybe could scare him a way if he gets to close again. For now im gonna look into the trapping idea. Im not trying to have the police come to my house. I appreciate all of help and great ideas. BYC 4LIFE!:woot

I don't know that I would want the animal relocated. They will travel for miles to get back to their territory. The fox knows that you have a food source on your property so I think that it would be best to have the animal dispatched. If a critter remover will do that, I would go that way. I'm not sure which state you live in, but here in Utah it is illegal to relocate an animal to prevent the spread of diseases. I hope that your chickens continue to be safe and you find a solution to your problem!

Wow. Good to know. Thanks.
