Fox attack! 12 chickens dead and abandoned.

WOW! I've really been out of the loop for awhile. I'll have to start checking in more often! I'm so sorry about what happened ... but very excited for your new babies. I've been meaning to go back and revise some of my own predator proofing. You just upped my schedule on me!
On a much brighter note ... when do we get to see baby pictures?

Hi there. Sorry I have been inactive. Exams ! But this morning we had another fox attack. It dug under the door to our coop. My poor polish hen and our silkie rooster copped the killings today.

Sorry what happened, i had a fox attack on my pekin duck, it had more affect on his brother than me, its been atleast 3 days since the incident and he still screams for him in his coop evernight, he hangs out with my younger ducks now but sometimes he still goes down to the crime scene.. its sad when your animal dies from a predator, but even sadder when they were close and only 1 dies, its torture to the animal, i will be getting him a girl duck soon.

I know. That’s Lavender. The light Sussex is Savannah and the barred rock is Millie. The silver Sussex is Poppy and the rooster is Harry

Are you sure it is a fox? Will foxes dig like that?
Call around and post on Facebook to see if you can find a local trapper who uses the furs. A fox going after free ranging chickens is one thing, but a fox breaking into your coop is another entirely.

I know. I’ve been telling my dad For years to put wire on the floor, he didn’t believe me till now.

Ya all of our runs have wire on the ground, the indoor coop is wood flooring.
