It may seem expensive, but what are your livestock and pets worth to you? Only you can decide. Its better to know and be prepared and not know and be heartbroken.
Sporting goods stores and some department stores carry cameras.
We have 4 cameras 2 set up most of the year. We see all kinds of wildlife.
Our coop will keep everything out...except the black bear we saw on camera.
Im sure if he get determined he could break in somehow.

My chickens line up at my door around 730 because they know it's time to go inside. I raised some of them from babies and I even let them sleep with me every night. I play a huge role in my chickens lives. I once got stuck at the hospital with my brother and my sister did not understand that I MUST get home by a certain time to get to my chickens. She's very selfish just fyi. so it wasn't until 9pm I got home and I saw feathers everywhere... and a possum. I thought it killed my baby raven and carnelian... I was yelling at my sister and crying trying to catch the possum to kill it. That's when raven and carnelian started to peek their heads out. They started calling out to me but wouldn't come out of their hide out. I yelled "mama's!!!" and ran over to them. The next morning Raven got attacked... Raven is so quiet and sweet when I heard her make a weird noise I was already on my way to check on her. When she started to scream I opened my door and started running towards her yelling out "mama!!" that cat took off and raven followed me to see me chase it lol.

I did kill the possum. My neighbor saw me do it. She said "Animals have a right to live too." She even told my landlord. My response was "Yeah? And so do my chickens. Whose life do you think I'm going to choose?"

Yes! Where can you by trail cams from?
Amazon is where I have bought most of my cameras. When I put them up I was surprised of how many predators prowl around at night. Most nights I see usually a fox or coyote on a camera. Here we are getting ready to go into summer and it has been hot. The predators lay low in the daytime and come out mostly at night. Recently we saw more predators during the day but I think it was due to them looking for mates and food for their young.

Here in Montana the state reimburses ranchers who have lost cattle to the reintroduced wolves, if you can prove a wolf killed your cattle.

A majority of the time it’s not wolves. It’s almost always a dog/pack of dogs. Maybe dogs got your babies?

My in-law’s dog is a sweetheart but will kill any small animal it sees, and leaves it when it’s done “playing” with it.
