Fox in the coop!!!

Shoot it... or trap it but they’re hard to trap. I’ve been trying to trap one for a while that has gotten 2 of my girls but haven’t had any luck. I’ve been outside both times it’s gotten my chickens, I let them free range in the evenings when I’m home. We have a wooded area that they love and apparently the fox loves too.

The only sure way to protect your flock is a secured covered run. If you insist on free ranging, perhaps a few strands of electric fence around your perimeter may help. Here is a great article on electric fencing: https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/a-treatise-on-electric-fences-for-poultry.72229/

Even if you shoot this fox there will be more in the future, or maybe coyotes too. I HATE foxes - they are by far the worst predator in my area.

Unfortunately, the only real way to get rid of it is to shoot it. Everything else is just a challenge to him.
