Fox problem

Thanks everyone. I do have live traps, but never had any luck with getting a fox to go in. I can't move the coop because anywhere I would move it to would have a wood line next to it. Where I live is in the backwoods of Louisiana and I have a swamp behind the house. I think I will check on getting a electronic fence. My mama has a electronic fence and she's not having any problems, so that may be the best way to go.
Electric fence is you’re best bet so you won’t have to worry. Live traps are not very good for fox unless your buying cages that you could fit in yourself. Foothold traps and snares will work for fox far better if you can set them or find someone who can. Good luck.

It’s a big water trough. Got it for $70 at Rural King.
That’s gotta take a ton of wax to submerge a cage the size needed for a red fox. I’m curious how you keep your wax from getting contaminated with foreign odors while in such a huge trough.

I have a bee keeper near me that I buy wax from. I trap in seasons so I only go after one species at a time. I melt in a garage that is sealed off where I tan hides and butcher in. Everything is separate. I have to replace the wax every trapping season.

:frow im in LA too and just shot a possum in the coop night before last. Thank goodness no one was injured or taken. I like the elec fence but im also wantn to learn to trap because i back up to an overgrown old horse pasture and the predators run deep. @A_Fowl_Guy id love to learn more if you have the time you could PM me to keep from hi-jacking this thread unless two j doesnt mind?

Ive also never heard of that and it might take spme leg work to find someone to make it possible but i can see the logic there thats a good plan for the real wily preds

I do, but don’t know anyone else who does. I’m just covering my bases.

Well... as mentioned wax actually absorbs and holds scent.. think candles... so I can't see the benefit to waxing a cage trap, and think it would be more likely to work against you.
