Hello,

I am planning on coming to the show from VA. This will be my first show. I am super excited!! What time should I plan on getting there? Are there usually a lot of people selling bird, eggs etc?
 
There should be quite a few birds forsale. This is one of the first opportunities for breeders to sell those extras. As far as eggs, I wouldn't count on it. Most people don't hatch this late and those with show birds have them seperated to keep feathers in good shape.

I will there about 6am.

To look at the show all birds have to be cooped in by 9am. Some folks pull birds as soon as their section is judged. I think this is BAD FORM, but it is the same at every show. To see all birds I would get in the show building by 10am.

For buying 8-9 is a good time. Those not showing will setup before 9. Those showing are busy getting their birds cooped inby 9, then a little rest, then they move outside to sell what they have brought.

I will have to look for you. My friend went to a show a few months ago and a guy lied to him about the age of the two cochin he bought. Guy told him that they were a year old.. My friend kept them for a few months and since the hen wasn't laying any eggs he was going to give them away. I told him I would take them. Once I got home I study their feet because they look dried out and noticed the roos spur was curled around back on to it self and the other one looked like it had broken in half. Going to get that spur trimmed. Then I noticed the hen had little spurs. I did some research and from what I read that if the rooster spur is lover then 1/4 in that he is over two years old and if its less he is year or under. Not sure if that's correct but I don't want to get dumped on like my friend had happen to him. They are going to live the rest of their lives in my backyard until its their time..

So I will be looking for some help when buying some chickens!
