Yea completely remove the old one before D-loading the new so theres not a possibility of it crashing your computer

Yep Avast. My hubby is a geek and he's got it on all our pc's and it's what he recommends to everyone who asks.

I'll put another vote in for Avast. We run it on all of our systems, from machines running Me to Windows 7, with no problems.

I believe they are talking about smallest app so as to not take up a bunch of space on their computer

Just bought a new computer and I have Kaspersky on it and it seems to be working really well also.
Had AVG on my other computer but it was not totally fail safe I thought. There were viruses that specifically attacked it and circumvented it.

With McAfee, one laptop took over 10 minutes to boot. Once booted, it would regularly hang for minutes at a time, with McAfee using 100% cpu. Same with several other AV programs. With Security Essentials, you hardly ever notice it's there. That's what I consider to be light.
