Free chick from McMurray

I think our Dark Brahma looks similar. I will try to remember to post a pic in the morning to compare.

Here she is.

I FINALLY got my pictures loaded to computer. Here is the free chick that we received. I am thinking a Dark Brahma. What do you think? S/He is a bit smaller than the Buff and Light Brahmas we ordered. But I guess I don't really know what breed s/he is and how big it should be to start comparing it to others.:)
My dark Brahma feathered in very slow also and is still quite a bit smaller at four weeks old then any of my other chicks. Here's an old pic....

Thanks for the pictures for comparison.  I 'd say Dark Brahma for sure!  Boy those chicks sure are cuties!
You are welcome. They are cuties for sure. This little girl is my son's chick. She is actually thriving with the rest of the chicks. Our Langshans are probably our tallest, and she is a little under them. It is too early to tell how big she actually will be. Our Light Brahma and Buff Brahma do not hatch until April 19th from somewhere else.

I got my shipment from McMurray in this morning, I'm pretty sure my free exotic is a buff laced polish! I'm pretty excited, except I know I can't really keep a rooster like that and I'm not sure how to sex Polish chickens. I've read that the shape of the head crest is different, that males have a more oblong shape than females, so I'm pretty sure this little guy is male. Oh well, I'll enjoy his cuteness while I can!

Oh how cute!

My girls picked polish for their special chicks this year. We got 2 golden laced and 2 silver laced. I opted for hens because I didn't want too many roos. Our free chick last year was a golden polish rooster. We lost him to a hawk last fall.

He was my husbands favorite! He was pretty cool looking though. I do not know how to tell chicks apart but as they get older the roos 'hair' is more all over the place and the girls is more roundly shaped. Have fun with your cutie pie! Hope it turns out to be a hen for you!

My last order came with an amazing splash cochin standard hen. Shes really beautiful. I've also gotten 2 white sultan roosters, 1 partridge cochin hen, 1 pure white polish hen, 1 blue laced red Wyandotte rooster, and SIX silver phoenix roosters (yes at once). I also got 15 packing peanuts that are all red star hens (!!!).

I also should point out that my last order for 100 chicks was their all pullet layer collection. I figured it would be mostly EEs or something but the mixture was like a premade wish list. Seriously. The variety was astonishing and the numbers of really rare and expensive birds left me a bit shocked. Well worth the price and much much more.

Haven't posted in a long time, but I've got chick fever here in this ice in Tn.  My flock of 41 ships TODAY. Invoice says 2 free exotic chicks. Does that mean after you spend a set amount they add more freebies? I did the meat/egg combo, so I know I'll have 15 Cornish meat birds coming, 10 heavy layers of unknown variety yet, 3 Minorca's, 4 Brahma's, 2 Salmon Faverolles, 4 Polish pullets, and a Polish Roo. It's cold in Iowa right now and here in Tn. Wondering if there will be more than 2 "freebies" for warmth. I am so eggcited!  it feels like Christmas! They are getting added to a layer flock of 5 pullets and a roo, plus 9 I bought on a facebook swap site Sat.

Don't y'all think figuring out just who has arrived is part of the fun? I sure do.

I've gotten two orders with lots of extras. One came with 6 silver phoenix roos. I sold them online for a good price as 5 month olds and I got a bunch of hens as packing peanuts on a small order that was to replace 12 bantam chicks that were doa. I place phone orders and I always tell them I welcome packing peanuts. ;)
