Free online tax filing??? Anyone know a good one?

OK I've tried it out and it did match very very closely what Dad had filled out!

It is very simple to use which it did surprise me. Very clear to understand too!

Will talk with hubby what we are going to do, either get it online one time or get the CD. If online is very much like the disk, would the disk be good for coming years or do I have to buy updated CDs every year?

UGH! Then there is no need for me to go to Walmart for those things then!

Better to get it from online, that's for sure! I hate to spend on something that you can not use year after year. UGH!

We have decided to file online instead of buying the Turbotax disk.

Thanks to everyone for leading me thru this ordeal....it was new to us and you have been wonderful!

Haven't read thru this all. but we use www.123easytaxfilling.com I like it pretty good used it for the the passed 3 years.. cost $29 to file fed and state tax returns

Did you just try the "free edition" to start? Thats what I suggested. Thats all I have ever used and it has worked for me.

I was hoping you would not have to pay to prepare or file.

Yep did that! And it is good going so far! They said to use the DELUXE one.

However there is a glitch that was doing error checking....it said that the W2 needs an employer's EIN number for SSA! Turbo said I do not need one for the filing but the state needs it for my income status. Should I ignore it?
