Here are a few hints on how to tell the difference from a Jerusalem artichoke and a wild sunflower. Jerusalem artichokes have a yellow center and there will be no seeds. Sunflowers have a darker center, where teeny, tiny seeds are. While the seeds look very similar, a wild sunflower will not produce an edible tubers.

Part of our mission is about supporting the wildlife. Today starts Pollinator Week June 16 and continues through June 22.
Look at their awesome official poster created for 2025 pollinator.org.
What do you have in your yard that suports wildlife or what would you like to add?
One pollinator plant that is on the top of our list is the brittle bush (Encelia farinosa). We are packaging up envelopes for the Stands and Free Seed Tables for the festivals/events in 2025.
There are so many uses for this bush and it takes little to no fuss or water to grow.
This plant supports , , moths, hummingbirds, and, . The painted lady butterfy loves the sweet aroma, syrup like resin.
As always never use pesticides.
