dkart1,
thanks for the validation (about my extended stay in the guest house). the domestic scenes you describe: loud noise, loud music, etc. target my situation with chilling accuracy. i had to giggle about the description of the "clean up your mess!" process. i have been trying for years to enforce my ancient "chore list", i wrote and posted it many years ago when the was still some hope.
all that said, i'm still crazy in love with them.
I would highly recommend the "guest house" or some other hideaway, as a tool for parenting loud and lively teenagers. i'm close enough to monitor, guide and support and when the "circus"becomes intolerable, i can dash right into the little cottage and relax... until that rooster starts screaming...
ROOSTER UPDATE: 5 am, outside my window for the last ten days. i've ordered the owl decoys, stay tuned.
6chickens,
the milking stool? brilliant! a folding chair with sewn-in cushions might make you corner of the coop nappable!
Kimberly,
me with chicks? i just don't know about that, i really don't. i won't trust that my nest will be empty until it's fall and i'm in her dorm room helping her unpack.
thank you all for your time and kind attention. have a sweet weekend
