Mine are out free ranging when I’m home to keep an eye on them, otherwise they have a run they stay in. I made a pallet fence and used those cheap step in steel posts with old fashioned wood snow fence to make the perimeter, and then I strung electric on the outside to keep critters out, and a wire along the top so the darn goose doesn’t try to flop-hop up and over.

No way they can lift any of it, and the electric does a good job of protecting them when I’m not watching. They also know to take shelter when a predator (at least of the feathered kind) goes over, and I have a number of hides throughout the yard for them to run to. So far so good
