I've heard of and seen peafowl free ranging but I've never done it myself. I'm on 14 acres and would love to get 2 pairs of peafowl but I'm worried about them wandering off. Luckily there's not many houses nearby (just one) but there isn't a forcefield around my property or anything. Its fenced with metal stakes and wire, so they could just easily fly over.

My idea is to feed them in the pen I plan to coop them in at night and close them in after feeding, and just hope they stay nearby during the day

Thanks :)

I have a lone peahen who lives with my chickens, she is free range but when I introduce her to my younger ones I'll keep her in a pen. It could be that if they are lone they will stay but they aren't happy alone
