Free Trees At Lowe's - (Any Updates? How are your trees growing?)

Not fair, they would only allow me one little bitty baby tree. But I love him (it?)

It's a Yellow Pine (?- Looks green to me, at least for now, give me a couple days, I'll turn it yellow).

I was hoping for a Blue Spruce. In pictures, they are really beautiful. Guess I'll just save up for one.

I like my tree, if it grows, I'll decorate it for holidays.

I didn't go. I would have had to go and randomly plant it in some already forested area of a park, or nurse it along for a few weeks until I could plant it on our other property, upon which my husband would promptly mow it down by accident.

Not worth it.

Now, if it had been a fruit tree, I'd have been all over it, sending my son in separately to get one, too.

I just don't have space here on this lot for non-food producing trees.

I'm so glad you got some. So they let you have as many as you want??

Laura, i can send you a few if you want...
The only thing i worry about is if they survive the mail in a envelope??
What do you think?

They are mailed all the time. Use a small box, wrap the roots, damp, in plastic wrap, cover is shredded paper. That is how the NM forestry mails theirs.

I would have to say that that is a VERY good idea. With this economy and families struggling to get by, a small fruit or free veggie would enable people to begin to grow their own fruit and veggies for food and nourishment for themselves and their families. I think you should send in your idea to Lowe's for next year.

Well, Kate is right. If you wrap the roots in damp paper towels, then in plastic (or how she described is better), they can easily be mailed. Back when I had money, I used to order trees that way all the time. But you don't need to send me any of your trees, if you have a nice place in the woods to plant them, that's just fine. I was just bummed that I didn't get to make it there, since "free" and "trees" are two of my favorite things!

So kind of you to offer though.

2 of the mine that family got for us seem to be dead all orange. The other two are about a foot or more tall and some of the needles are orange and some are green?

They sit on our open deck all the time.....maybe to much direct sun?
