Freeze Drying Digest

Thanks... I did that. Pulled the shelving out and had to wrestle the ice off but managed to get it.

I also put a level on the top. It's actually tilted to the back already. I still put some domed washers under the front to raise it up just a tad more. Still seems to be draining out the front though.

Oh..
And after watching this video below, I will NOT be doing a Skittle batch. Or ANYTHING with palm kernel oil in it. 😳

So is ice forming IN THE GAP of the giant gasket and then melting, like on the metal plate that holds the gasket on? Mine was doing that until I put the insulator on it and used a window pillow for more insulation.

No, it's not around the gasket at all. It's from the thick ice sheet that forms around the shelving. It pools up at the bottom and rolls forward towards the door instead of backward or wherever the drain is located.

Freezer full of ice cream and wet cereal, all prefrozen took 34 hours, but I'm adding 9 as I'm walking out the door for a bit.
OH and the cereal bars are going to be a HUGE hit at scout camp. I prefer the fruity pebbles, but the Reese's and cocoa pebbles are good too. The yogurt I add for protein adds a twang to the taste that mixes sour with the sweet of the cocoa, so it's a tad strange - good, but strange.
Eh....teen boys will eat anything.

Did you use a recipe for them?

I just took 8 ounces of yogurt, a splash of milk and a normal sized box of cereal, mixed it up in a bowl, let it sit a minute to soak up the liquid, mixed again and poured into the trays and froze.
I use my tray dividers, but otherwise, I would freeze for a while, then score with a knife before freezing solid and then freeze drying.

I only put them in long term stuff. For stuff we'll eat within 6 months, I vacuum seal and don't worry about it.
But I agree. I buy in bulk, but look for those that are 10-15 packs in that bulk load. I package all my stuff, grab what I need, revacuum the oxi and vacuum the food.

Mine are all packaged in groups of 10, but I still wish they were individually packaged. Even when I open the 10 pack, I'm worried about getting them used and sealed in something within a day or two.
