That torch like SC said, OR i used a crumpled newspaper lit on fire becuz i dont have a torch, most important is not to heat the skin to where it starts cooking.

I have a really important question: some of my chicks have been acting funny, when I let them out in the morning, some of them can't stand up. They just lay kind of on there sides with there feet out. I don't think it's Mareks disease cause once I help them up they can walk on their own without much trouble. What could be causing it?

How old are they, and are they having any other signs of distress?

Mold, rat poison, other toxins can cause paralysis. But first thing that comes to mind is cold. If they don't have a broody and are not fully feathered, they may just be losing too much body heat to function.
