K, I'll keep a close eye on him for the rest of the night and see how he feels in the morning. Thanks for the advice y'all. This is my first time hatching ducks and things were going so well til this little fella came along. I figured I wouldn't get any of them to hatch cause I had read that it was hard to get ducklings past the pip stage, but all the 1's I locked down have hatched so far. I have 1 left that isn't out of the egg. He's got a slight hairline crack in his shell that he pipped earlier but thats as far as he's gotten. I'm hoping he'll wait a little longer so he doesn't come out like this ltitle one. I must have a hot spot in the bator.Only if he looks strong enough. Prepare for the worst, but hope for the best!
Hahahahahaha!!!!!.aybe after I get my next set of eggs and hatch them!

As soon as posted that i looked in at him and the sac has come off! It isn't bleeding alot, just a tiny bit. What should I do now? I've had chicks hatch with alot of umbical left that was bleeding and I've put betadine and Neosporin on it, should I do the same with this guy?
The navel should close up on its own. That one is going to need water and moist, soft food as soon as it's up and about, but warm and dry is the first order of business.
I've had several live through ruptured yolk.
Good to know... Megan, listen to Walnut... I'm bowing out to experience here...![]()
Yeah, I tried to wipe him off the best I could when I put him in his bowl but I didn't want to mess with him too much, I was afraid I would stress him out too much. Most of the stuff on him is dry but he still looks wet. I put betadine on the stump and tried to coat it with Neo but it didn't want to stick to it. I got as much as I could on there. I'll reapply it again in the morning.x2
Looks pretty wet too. Try to keep him warm and dry. And make sure if he would happen to move around over night, that there's nothing he could rake that sac across and make it any worse. Good luck sweetie!
Ok, thank you so much, that gives me hope. The navel should close up on its own. That one is going to need water and moist, soft food as soon as it's up and about, but warm and dry is the first order of business.
