Predator numbers will be up... juvies will start hunting... everyone, be more alert now...

And also watch out for injured/sick birds/waterfowl looking for shelter in your flocks... had that happen the other day with a grackle... thought it was diseased, it was so messed up... had to stop my ducks and Ohiki from attacking it and I put it down quick... got yelled at by my OH, but I say flock safety comes first... turns out, it was a mercy for the bird... lower beak was totally broken off and it was starving to death...

Just keep your eyes open, my friends... protect what's yours...

Update finally. My Big Guy Brahma rooster is gone and one of my golden comets. 5 comets are fine, and the lavenders are fine. I locked the auto door until I can get another flock master. The girls aren't going to like it, but too bad. They will be safe in the coop/run.

Do you know what happened?

No Angus are. But Baldies are still good. Seems the black fur is a big deciding factor

I forget what the percentage is but its not much to call it angus beef . It has been along time for me too . they stick that label on there and the price is higher. I need some though .waiting for the price to get real again . it has been a good run . my friends are selling half as many and coming home with the same money . This is still not the time to buy .

14 day candle on the marans and lav ameraucana. 26 eggs set and 1 ameraucana clear. I tried to get a pic of candling. These are all in the coolerbator.

so true also nesting time for hay bales . They will be hunting harder for food for the chicks seeing a lot more here .

Yes it has been a good run, really unreasonable for awhile. Just wish we had sold the calves this fall, not kept them over winter :/

I hope you break even at least might as well hold them till the grass greens up now not much longer . but you are watching prices and I'm not. I hope your feed holds out . I know what you are facing. I've been there more than once .

. but hey that's farming good years and bad years. I was telling a customer why we do this stuff . cause we're all soft hearted and soft headed .

I could have turned out a lot of moonshine with the corn I've fed these chickens this winter . and still feed it to the chickens . WHAT was I thinking
