Good morning Frawgs. Time to fire up the computer again. Hope it's the last day of my second job-so glad it's almost over!!!

Good luck!!!! I only have about 3 weeks left at my job and I will be full time stay at home mom again!!!

 



Oh K... another rough night for him!  Seems like when I leave, he's fine, then falls to pieces when I go home.  Night nurse literally saved his life last night.  I won't get into the whole ordeal, but he's better this morning.  Lost a lot of blood, so let's pray a transfusion won't be necessary!   The *%#^ nurse is back today (she was actually better toward me yesterday afternoon), so we'll see how this morning goes.  One day at a time. 

Keep the fingers crossed, and the legs, and whatever else you can cross!

Working with one like that actually makes it easier to "put it out of misery", if it comes to that, than just doing it without trying, in my opinion.  Fixing it won't be easy, but it is possible, so if she tries, and still fails, at least she will know she did all she could.  Best of luck!

That's where I'm at. I let them try to make it on their own. If they don't I send them on before they start to suffer. I totally respect those that do all they can though!

I had a crossed beak once too. It did ok for quite a while, but never made it past 4 months. It seemed to be making a living just fine and I came out one morning and it was gone. We made sure it could eat and drink all the time, but it wasn't enough.

We put ours down before she was even 3 weeks old that's how bad it was.

I'm quiet certain it was an injury and not a genetics issue and it was likely something I could have prevented. I've got an older chick in the same brooder who is huge and active and I figure the little gal got tackled too hard.
