French frogs

I am very glad to hear that she's doing better.  I hope she still sees a doctor.

She is we had a long discussion I think she now realizes how selfish her not going to the ER was....and she said she does regret not going and she would have made me go....etc...

Great news!

Thanks Oz...

Hi Phil.

Oz - my Orloff/EE is finally starting to zip. I was afraid I had glued him in the egg since I had to open the bator to get the crazy Orloff unstuck from the rail I had in. Thought he was going to break his neck. Must be a cockerel.

Walnut, are there any of the SF - AM chicks in your hatch?

Yes, there are a few.

Some are SF-Am roo over last year's EE hens, some are SF-Am roo over Red Sex Link hens. They have great muffs and beards, and a few even have blue, gray or willow shanks. Others are the Light Brahma - Am roo's offspring. Those are the white with gray chicks, his color always maps and sometimes his feathered feet. They generally don't have much for muffs and beards.

The chipmunks are definitely SF-Am, as is the brown. The orange and white with orange are SF-Am with the RSLs.

I bet he'll be pretty! I think mine just needed privacy...:)
I needed to separate my Silkie eggs but I couldn't figure a good way to do it.
I need to move some into the brooder because they are knocking the dickens out of the eggs that are left.

I really like those SF-AM's. I want SF but I'm not a big fan of feathered legs so I think those are perfect AND you get tinted eggs. Can you color sex them fairly early?

Take a look at these muffs, these are from SF-Am roo over his SF-Am x SF-Am daughters:

I think this one is over a Brahma cross daughter.

And over RSL:

They just got toe punched so don't mind the bit of blood. And they are not reliably feather sexable. Secondary characteristics work pretty well though, shape of shank, three row comb, squawkish voice and assertive behavior are generally males.
