Aaaawwwww!!!!! Look at them babies!!!
It is better.... I gave a big burst of Prednisone yesterday.... And it helped. ..I wasn't treating it hard enough. Now I can back off a little a day.... And remember from now on not to quit taking the stuff in the middle of winter. Kind of like a depressed person decides they don't need their pills anymore do they quit taking them..... Then they end up backwards.
Eeessshhhh. Hope you feel better with those steroids.
I want some but cant justify the money.
Ditto! ;)
So busy today processed half of our meat birds after building version 2 of the mother plucker. 14 birds totalled 102 lbs. I also made file gumbo. I am worn slap out. We are going to wait another week on the rest to add a bit more weight.
Wow!! That's a lot of meat!!

They got their poles wet. Other then that we caught a lot of Algae and a couple big logs. I was hoping for some bites for them, but I am sure they had a good time anyway. Any day with Grandma is a good day for these two.
Cute!!!! Fishing is fishing to a kid even if they don't catch anything. ;) love it!
My hatch is over. I'm about ready to throw my incubator into traffic. I'm pretty sure my temp was a bit low this time, but I also think there is a design flaw with my incubator. I think the ventilation is poor. Out of 18 locked down eggs, (10 shipped, 8 local) I got 7 chicks. One pipped right below the air cell and aspirated. 2 pipped internally but never pipped externally, and the rest are dead in shell, fully formed.
:hugs. I'm sorry. That stinks.
This weekend we were harassed by a new pest...a beautiful year old wild tom turkey that set his eyes on our girls and drove our guys to distraction. He was so intent on getting to the girls that we walked right up almost on him before his instincts kicked in and he took off. But he wasn't gone long...so we let the dog shoo him. He was back first thing this morning teasing one of our toms through the coop fence. Shooed him off with the dog again, and this wily old tom thought he'd outsmart us and the dog by making a full circle of the house and coming down to the coop from the back side. But the dog, who isn't as dumb as he lets on, was watching for him and sounded off, and the tom left again. As lovely as he is to see, I certainly don't want his genetics in my flock or any disease he may carry in my yards. I could get a hunting license and ensure his departure, but I think that if we just keep making his life difficult he'll move on. This is Hoot, my little owly looking EE. I do think he's a boy, so his name will be short-lived, but I think it's fitting.
I would just take him out with a bow...nice and quiet like and eat him. Lol!!!! So in love with Hoot. And I love that name also.
I just want to grow my own food. I put in Sugar Snap Peas Yellow Summer Squash and Radish, in case things dont work out :lau
Me too but I have to make a greenhouse!!! ;)
Just younger....?
Be careful... I'll send you a box of quackers...
:lau

:Love. I want one!!!

Good morning everyone!

Phil, hope you got some sleep last night!

Walnut, nice duplex brooder! I forgot about that tom. He really is neat looking. Glad your dog was able to scare him off.

WV, you're off the rest of the week. What are you up to? Is hubby already back to work?

He's not back to work yet (waiting for turkey season opening next week LOL) so we may have some camp time. But I have a little work to do at home too. Chick distribution, income taxes, have 2 sets of eggs to ship out, junk like that :D

Also need to do something for the ducks at camp, cut out the little pond cove I have in mind.

Oh, and some relaxation! Hopefully!!

We're they from Busan?

I didn't mean that as derogatory.  I thought it great that 1.  you still had the packaging  2.  you knew where the packaging was   3.  you thought of pulling it out!

I keep everything, my husband tosses or burns everything.  So we end up with everything we don't need, and nothing that we do.

I'm a tosser... My wife's a keeper...
That's awesome!! Just make sure you don't restrict ventilation. Mine had some holes in the base, plus I added more at each corner to be able to add water easier without opening.

I wondered to.... But figured they probably had these figured out.

I Slept.!!!! (small victory lap)

Was looking for something to insulate my incubator with. Remembered I still had the box it came in tucked away in the closet in my man cave. Yep, all the styrofoam it came in was still there. And wouldn't you know it, it was obviously built with the thought of being able to run the incubator in it.

I've seen YouTube videos of folks running it without the styro, too so don't feel lonely!
