Farmboy - I have a field mice problem around my coop. Every so often I set a bunch of snap traps baited with peanutbutter and chicken food in an area the chickens can't get to - like behind a board leaning against the side of the run or inside a chicken wire circle.
I do that for a few days to knock the population down, It helps, but it's not perfect.
I got rats and were it not for the democratic system around here I would poison the chit out them. they say the cats and chickens will eat the dead rats and kill themmade Ravyns rat bucket caught one . almost shot the cat shooting at rats. 22 LR bird shot isn't strong enough 22 mags are but cost to much would use shorts but might shot something I'm not supposed to
I hate rats but I like to shoot them . going to try the bucket with a different approach .As soon as I get it built I'll show you what I'm doing . Just got like zero time . just got home at 5:30 took Ben to Mcdonalds came home feed and watered gather eggs and it started raining and now I'm here .But finely brought my little skid loader home and maybe just maybe I'll get the lights run under ground to my chicken house.
DW just informed me we have been invited to dinner and a show this Saturday night by the CEO of the hospital were she works .
I'll get in trouble for sure
. they will ask me what I do . And of course I'll say I'm a professional ditch digger and that will tick her off .But free dinner and a show be my luck it will be a country music show
guess I better start practicing to be good now .and maybe I can pull it off . It is very nice to be able to spend time with you all this evening hope everyone is well and thank ou so much for having Me .
I'm gonna have to think about this some more for sure . I don't know if I can sit still that long and not swear . Construction worker is so hard to overcome .![]()

My chickens catch and eat the mice if they have the nerve to appear in the coop.
Mine would, if the d*mn things would run around during the day... but at night they is too busy sleeping...
Them dam rats is fast and I'm old and shaky but I just killed 7 for sure maybe 8 and one ain't got no tail . I shot it off .Got a bigger gun. and let me tell you it ain't quiet . matter fact it's loud for a 410 but my aim don't have to so good . I waging war on rats . But I have a neighbor I think that has a cannon. the explosion is loud went off twice today just before dark .I wonder what they think about all the shooting this late at night . Don't really care just wonder . If they want quiet they should have stayed in the city. they have noise laws there none of those here .And besides I'm being a good neighbor I could be using the 12 gage . while they can get small hamlets rezoned and subdivided. This is zoned agriculture farm use no noise restrictions . Shooting varmints is part of farming .
and I'm still waiting for the yellow lab to come back haven't seen it . look for it all the time . Guess I had better go to bed .

PaperKid wants to raise next year's Thanksgiving dinner (told her it was too late for this year, and there'd need to be building done this summer to do any at any time, anyway...) What kind of space requirements are we talking about, here? Especially if I decide to keep a tom and jenny each year. I'm guessing a 4 foot tall chainlink fence as a free(er) range boundary is fairly laughable... Too bad none of you folks have midget whites--at least, not that I can remember.
