Really? When I first looked into it I was told, on BYC, that I needed to keep them seperate, something about worms or blackhead? So I figured that would be too much trouble, I only have one brooder and my chickens have been everywhere in my yard. But if I can keep them together, then it would be very doable, maybe I will look into it.

I've only ever seen big mixed flocks with turkeys, ducks and chickens running around together. I think a lot of the "rules" and things you're told to be afraid of get blown out of proportion at times....kind of like the issue of "you MUST build a Ft. Knox type setup -- anything less is neglectful and means you shouldn't even have poultry" -- nothing wrong with folks who do opt for that approach, and Ft. Knox is certainly a must for those who are unwilling/unable to accept the risk of an occasional loss, but it isn't the ONLY way to do things nor are other ways wrong or bad.

Yeah I ran into that quickly here. My first question was what to feed my chickens if I did not want to use commercial feed. I really upset a couple of people . So I went to my Grandma and asked her what she fed her birds. Seems to work out just fine.

I have a job offer pending background check & drug screening. I haven't yet heard from the HR person to get the screening done.
