Breese and Anaconda, ok
ETA: I wrote anacona...I know I checked

I highly recommend Icelandics as well... but if you're gonna breed them they really need to be separated as they are a rare landrace breed... I'd love to have them, but I'd need a lot more space...

It broke in half

and then the 1 year old climbed up on the counter and finished it off (how does a 1 year old get onto a counter?) Something I will have to try again (just gives me another excuse to buy an avocado)

Accomplish ?

Sticky chicks are caused by too much humidity after pip. I've been testing cause and effect all season, and I just built a new humidification system for my coolerbator that lets me easily hit "rain forest". Oops. With unpipped eggs, that high humidity is good for softening the shell and making sure the membrane is tender but once they are open more than just a little, that moisture gets in there and delays yolk absorption and keeps the egg gunk gooey. The albumen stays wet instead of turning into a powdery residue (chick dust).

Here is my new starter brooder. Plastic tote lid, Flex Watt, Lux plug in thermostat with the probe taped to the Flex Watt, old rag washcloth and a dollar store mini laundry basket. I have the happiest poults ever.

IF you can find pure Icelandics...need to find a good breeder. Around here any chicken that is small, active, colorful and single combed is tagged "Icelandic" or "Swedish Flower Hen".

Well I have the space, but was never planning on keeping anything except barnyard mutts.

That's not a problem here, I sell 8-10 dozen a day and had no trouble selling 20 dozen a day when I had more hens.

That's alota eggs! I've only been selling them, and only by a sign n the yard, for four months now, I keep telling myself egg clientele will pick up as people find me. In the meantime I'm Very happy with around 6 doz a Week

I do love my Bresse, they're a very meaty herritage chicken, white feathers which do get dingy but they lay well, and the eggs are huge, they forage well, theyre pretty friendly, but wary enough to avoid my neighbors deadly dog, and non-aggressive.

I know Your trying CX and I have my first batch too. I hated them at the start, but now theyre moving around pretty well and starting to act somewhat like chickens. Still, I enjoy my bresse a lot more than those things so far, we'll see how processing goes and I'll give a monetary break down if you like.

Yup Icelandics....:thumbsup
:highfive:

Very true... that's why I referred Phil to check sources with a trustworthy breeder... :)
The eggs I'm getting are like way bigger than jumbo chicken eggs where can I get cartons that big....
I just put them in flats, lol...
