The hens had about 50% rate of lay.  Not impressive.  But they could forage for 100% of their nutritional needs as long as they could find the ground.

And they sound like the perfect bird for me. I will have to put them on my "to try" list. The thing I love about my Barr Rocks are their foraging ability, Easter Eggers are less impressive, but pretty eggs.

I have to point out that when I got to about ten hens, I realized I don't need super layers cuz I couldn't sell all the eggs that super layers such as Ten leghorns, would lay. My Bresse lay nearly daily anyway.

That's not a problem here, I sell 8-10 dozen a day and had no trouble selling 20 dozen a day when I had more hens.
