They are so interesting, and keep you busy. We didn't realize there is so much that can hurt the poor girls. We have dealt with varroa mites, hive beetles, wax moth, absconded colonies and queenless hives since April. We have learned alot.

Starting up hives you shouldn't have mites come in so quick . bees once established should be fairly easy to keep. stick with it and the rewards will be worth it .I was in the Farmers Co op this morning and was shocked at the price they had on a bee hive .bottom brooder and two supers and top was $375 ouch I need to get a dovetail jig and start making hives .

Yes, I'm still around, still making fudge for farmers' market, the chicks are getting big, and we're heading out on a 2 week trip with the main destination being Yellowstone the day after tomorrow.
