I'm proficient, but those aren't good odds. I'm not saying I wouldn't try, but I'd say I'd make a ripe target returning fire. I carry mine because of the ex-husband, the crazy dad, and protection. Saying a carry permit would have definitely made that situation better is a stretch

Yeah, I've driven down that street many times in my lifetime, and my BIL's younger brother goes there for classes, job placement, etc. (Had a brain injury as a child.)
