French frogs

Thats all i do, ive read you can force em to learn ur not a threat but i use a wire covered platform to inspect feets, and they "handle" well, i can send em to any part of the 100 ft long duck yard... :hu i jus leave em to be lay my eggs :D
:hugs could that really be the cause? Did u ever check temps on that date? An odd duck there ;)
Of course! Them aint eatn fish though and ive already got too many pets... Im tryn to learn livestock. Yall r lucky im not followin Dans suit and postin 100 pics of calves. Missed my best auction (profit) oppurtunity of the year :hit

I prefer not forcing them either... now they feel comfortable walking close and 'talking' to me and that's enough for me... plus, they learn if I do have to pick them up it's for a reason and they deal with it well...

Oh I see!  Interesting...  I'd probably panic and grab the eggs, but that's where experience would make the difference.
Kinda like watching a drake grab a hen, and thinking that he's hurting her, when she's really enjoying it!   :D

Exactly... and no way to tell if they'll do well or not til they try... if they don't, then they won't be allowed to brood... but ducks are way different than chickens when brooding... there's a reason you can give chickens duck eggs, but not ducks chicken eggs...

Does it have 2 eye stripes or 1? 1 eye stripe is mallard, 2 or 1 and partial 2nd is Rouen...

I didn't know that. He has two. There are a few others that have just one or one and a 2nd partial.

You did the right thing, hon...

See if you can get Nutri Drench or Poly Vi Sol without Iron... give 3x's a day to that one and any other crested or weaker looking ones... and put a bit in the waterer for them all... helps with the stress from the big move to new place and all...
I know.

Ok, I'll see about it.

I don't know if that's the cause or not, but I wish it hadn't happened. It never got below freezing those days, high was 54, so I would think that should have been ok.

Mallards will be smaller and more 'streamlined' too... I looked it up when figuring out what the 2 ducks I got stuck with were, lol...

Good luck with your new babies!! :)

I can't wait to hatch ducks......in the spring!!!! So looking forward to that hatch.

Awe... you don't want to join our insanity of winter ducklings??? :gig

Nope.....I am waiting for wood duck eggs!! ;)

Fresh.  Always wanted to try the saltwater because of the pretty fish you can get, but I'm too lazy for that!  I had bala sharks, angel fish, just basic stuff.  One of my bala's was about 6 years old when I gave it away when we moved.

I absolutely love saltwater. Beautiful to look at, beautiful colors, so many different directions you can go, but...
I had a crash a couple months ago and lost thousands of dollars in livestock. Just now rebuilding. It will take years :hit

Ok, so several had internally pipped the night before, but only the one made an external pip... after sitting overnight without external pip, I made safe holes for the rest, you can tell when they need it cuz thry tap like crazy on the shell... left them for the entire day with just safe holes for air... then late last night, early morning I start enlarging the safe hole... if they peep, I continue to open up the air cell, leaving the inner membrane intact... veins still visible, so use qtips and vaseline to keep it moist, make sure bill is clear for breathing and return to the bator til they are ready to finish... I never take them out of the shell or inner membrane... when they are ready, they will come out, plus that struggle is good for them to strengthen up their legs and pull in the blood from the veins... I did lose 2 that internally pipped with too much liquid still in the egg, unfortunately, but have a half doz still sitting nicely finishing their absorbing...

It is a long, tedious job in assisting Calls, but the key is in the stages and knowing when and how far to go each step... it's a learning process for sure, but if you don't start soon enough, they suffocate and to soon they really aren't ready...
