@BYC910 I'm gonna take what you did, and run with it like this I think the opening in the side, will allow you to place and remove or re position the egg, without having to open a door, or let you candle from different angles, holding the egg if need be. the yellow portion, is pegged, so you can close that opening easily, to get a good view from the peep hole. The lid opening, will let you pick up the egg, if you should lose your handle on it. I think self closing cabinet hinges on the bottom/light portion, and you wouldn't have to worry about latches. I really liked your light source, looked super bright.

I can take pics later of the bottom section and inside of mine if ya want... the latches really keep it together for moving and storing, but the big thing I like is the side door for placing the egg... I know how clumsy I can get so setting it down inside something is just asking for me to drop an egg on the light hole...

I have eggs going into lockdown tonight and Calls on day 8, I'll take pics tonight... most of the candling you don't need to close the door... door is more to cut out any excess light if needed...

The top of the top section doesn't open up so the door is only way to set the egg inside... door swings at the touch of a fingertip... door will stay open for most all my candling I bet, so easy to just swap eggs out...

Looks like a frizzle to me... but I dunno much about the frizzle/sizzle stuff except not to breed frizzle to frizzle, lol.. OH said no chickens with their feathers on backwards...

Heck, I don't know. I just know a sizzle is a frizzled-silkie. But how do you produce one, unless you breed it with a frizzle, and silkies aren't normally frizzled, right?

Anyway, I think it looks more like the daddy. But I guess we will see...

And yes, I know about the frizzle to frizzle... kinda crazy like the crests in ducks. So cute, but also so messed up!

just thinking I'll trade the top open for the front open approach, but leave the side little opening for cadling really dark eggs, or if repositioning is needed.
