Winter finally arrived. We had a few inches of ice/snow last night. I forgot to plug in the water heater in the coop. (In my defense it was in the 70's only a few days ago). But surprisingly it was not frozen this morning. So, I guess my chickens are generating some heat. I locked down last night. And the cracked egg is still going strong. Luckily the biggest dip in the air cell is on the opposite side of the crack. So it should be able to pip. Air cells are starting to draw down (I can candle through the dome). In other egg news, I had a egg carton on my kitchen counter open with eggs that I was planning on setting. The baby was coughing his brains out in the middle of the night. So I got up and made him a bottle of warm water, honey, and lemon juice. I didn't crew the top on tight and as I was shaking it up the top blew off and the mixture went everywhere, including all over the eggs! I wiped them off but they sure smell sweet now. Think they will be ok to set? Honey has antibacterial properties, right?![]()
well I like honey well placed
