yea and nobody can run a  machine but them. would rather have a young eager I want to learn kid. in a little while if they have the touch they will be so much better than the know it all's I get those handed down through the family operators .my daddy and his built houses together for years . but still can't get it right after years of running a machine. undercuts and overcuts make my life hell some times . a three inch overcut can add thousands to a job and very frustrated customers want to know why.  

Yeah, dirt is a lot cheaper than concrete.
The best employees in the world are the ones with no experience, willing to learn, and understand that you do it how the boss wants it done, not how you think it should be. That's why so many immigrants are in construction. They have a good work ethic, they follow orders, and they understand what real work is. They don't do the same job for less money, they do a better job for more money.
The only problem with that is going to be the second generation...

No pips this morning. I usually get one or two chicks on day 20, so maybe I will get a surprise when I get home tonight

How have you liked the 20 so far? How did you bump the humidity at lockdown?

for chicks when you get home! How many did you lockdown? I cracked another egg going into lockdown...
I'm still getting used to the 20. I had the mini's down to an exact science and I'm bad with change. But I think I will have to settle on 40% humidity throughout days 1-18. With both wells filled that's exactly where it sits. Hoping it will be a little higher over spring & summer. I did not lockdown in the 20. I got 30 eggs at a show. So I moved the dozen over (1 actually quit so 11) to the mini for lockdown and then filled the 20. I can easily fit 35+ bantam eggs in there. I added a couple of my own, so I'm up to 32 in there. Lockdown will be interesting. Still sitting with only 1 pip. Update if you can when you get home. These are the first AM chicks, right?

Nope no eggs yet....I was happy Ruby has a pip!!!!

I was just going to ask about your eggs!! Did the tracking at least update??

Perhaps you need to bathe more. Deodorant? Nah, I just had to do chicken chores, stop thing 2 from eating a candle, scream at thing 1 for torturing thing 2....Typical day.

We are a balmy 20 today....heading out to put a new battery in my snowmobile. Going fishing tomorrow. Finally getting the neighbor boy out. They have no school tomorrow and ice is real good now.
