French frogs

there are several ways to stop rabbit and deer from eating you garden . rabbit and deer chaser is organic in most cases . plain blood meal will stop them but draws ticks and such. with deer pee round your garden works great don't smell great though :sick  . easy if your a man spread a little deer repellent every time you can  but check labels .you never know what we been up to . I don't use chemicals . and squash bugs kill my plants very year this year doing what the hippies do .plant more staggered planting in different gardens. try to keep them growing all year .  wood ash helps with some things and  soap and water if you set beetle traps set them away from your garden they draw beetles as well as trap them . I set close to my runs chickens help catch them .

Lost my zucchini to squash bugs last year (even broke down and bought some pesticide last year, it did no good :sick ) This year I am going to plant in a new spot and I am going to plant them with marigolds. Apparently marigolds will help keep the bugs away. I figure anything is worth a try at this point.
They got my watermelons too :(

Good morning Frog! We have a true blizzard here this morning. Not a lot of snow, only about 4 inches right now, but the wind is howling. According to local weather the interstate is impassable.
I went through Seed Savers this year. They are more expensive, but I would like to get to the point where I keep and grow my own seeds. We will see how it works.

I live close to Park Seed and used to be able to just run by their store and pick up what I needed. They've sold out to a conglomerate and closed their public store.

Since I put up noise makers I have had deer or rabbit problems. Hung a few strips of corrugated metal roofing on a cattle panel trellis. The least little breeze moves it. Very random noise.

I always have issues with squash bugs. I'm the opposite of organic, so the best results I have had is to start spraying them with Ortho at the base as soon as the leaves develop, then at least once every two weeks until the plants give up. My zucchini and squash are the hardest hit, and once one bug gets in, it's all downhill from there

Have y'all tries to cardboard tubes wrapped in foil at the base of the plant?

Ross!!  How are your new chicklets doing?

Getting big! The born that hatched with solid black toes has white feather bleed so that makes me upset.... and the one with the one white toe is beautiful!!! I will get some pictures today after we get back from Hobby Lobby. ;) it's going to be a nice 75 degrees....so looking forward to this.

Well, we like to attract the deer to our property, so its planting a garden is a bit tougher for us. But we'll be planting more food plots especially for them this year.

Yes those things are awful.

Does it work?

I think I read somewhere that he posted on the AM thread to lure unsuspecting victims back to his lair...

:lau but he did it so confidently he seemed to be an authority

Yes I refuse to buy store bought "Tommy toes" I think it is awful that growers will happily sell us those awful things, it is even worse that people apparently buy them :sick
I got some Amish Snap peas, and black Valentine green beans (they say they can be used for both snap and drying...we will see.

We did Valentine black beans and dried a bunch, and will be doing them again. We also like the Amish paste tomatoes. Like Roma's but they get bigger. And make really good marinara sauce!
