I started some persimmons from seed.  They grew really well to start with, I think I had about 10 plants... then they slowly died on me.  They do NOT like to be over-watered.  But I'm going to try to start more of them soon.

Yup, alot of times folks can create micro climates that will allow a much wider variety of crops. Our conservation district rep was trying to fight me to grow prickly pears!

He suggested it because we're able to grow some odd for this state on this chunk of land, and they fruit. There's a demand for fresh local gourmet fruits and veg from the chefs and cooking schools around here.
