Yes it has been cold. I don't think I would have been too happy standing around waiting. Last year it was hot and we went to a parade in Ocean Springs. It was great, went to a party after.

I'm pretty sure I ordered them from efowl.com. They are running 6.99 - 7.09 per duckling and they'll come from either Metzer or Cackle. I'm not sure which one mine came from. I've heard of some folks having their Cayugas keep black plumage without whitening for up to 5 years. I'm excited to see how long my gals go for.

Wow i had no idea theyre hatchery stock! Theres a breeder here but he wants 10$ for his day old straightrun and thats not a commitment i was ready to make last year. This year im going to bug him about buying eggs

we have some freeway construction going on.......complete with the pretty flashing lights, and concrete pump trucks....

it and i try to encourage others to tourist here. Some of the parades really are safe and family oriented, despite nay sayers word on it.

Story time . I have been the New Orleans for the parades a couple of times . oldest brother lived there . he was a diver worked on the oil rigs in the Gulf . came home with bags of beads . any way there is one parade they call ZULU know It Turk ? a lot of the floats are Semi trucks decorated . we went to the parade . My brother told me how they decorated coconuts but no one every got one they only threw a few to the crowd .if you have never been it is packed with people you can hardly move drinking on the streets as long as it is not in a glass bottle . Plastic or paper . what a party . Fights break out all around you over bead and booze . any now back to the story .As the semi's come down the street in the ZULU Parade they hang the decorated coconuts out over the side of the float which is like I said . a Flatbed Semi trailer with side boards on maybe 10 or 12 ft high . they tease the crowd with them . everybody wants one and no body gets one . well they didn't think about me . I watched and waited and learned . told my brothers I was going to get one of them coconuts . one brother was beside me the other was at the back of the crowd watching the parade . the kid on the float reached down with the bag and I hit it just right got it with one hand and held on an so did he . thought he was coming over the side . good thing the bag tore I wasn't letting go neither was he .as the float pulled away he held up the top half of the bag I had the rest every body going oh chit did you see that slapping me on the back . it was a blast . SIL had to tell my brother it was me . you know I really have had a great life with loads of fun .
