Way to go and can't wait to see how your first own hatch does!!!

He is definitely a stud and he is not aggressive. Even Loretta likes him. Also hatching them in the coolerbator. Will be biting my nails until they hatch.

I hope you break even at least might as well hold them till the grass greens up now not much longer . but you are watching prices  and I'm not. I hope your feed holds out . I know what you are facing. I've been there more than once .:/ . but hey that's farming good years and bad years. I was telling a customer why we do this stuff . cause we're all soft hearted and soft headed . should have been a bootlegger money would have been better I could have turned out a lot of moonshine with the corn I've fed these chickens this winter . and still feed it to the chickens . WHAT was I thinking

Its definitely predator time around here.

Always predator time here...had to put snowshoes on today to round the ducks up....they went on walk about....then little webbed feet walk right on top on the snow......they were hanging by the wood line....digging in my compost pile.....I saw bobcat prints....steed then home .....feed them snax....dux

Fortunately we do have enough food. The real problem is they are getting onery and crossing fences, not as often as Dans pigs but often enough to cause problems. We might have a buyer looking for grassfed, he drove out yesterday to look at them. He will pay more, but it is riskier. We have had buyers take the cattle and then drag their feet writing the check. The sale barn will probably bring less, but that is sure money that day. It makes for tough choices.

Have you dealt with that buyer before? Not sure how you go about making that decision.

I agree on the sale barn risking being less, but guaranteed $$$... that's why most of our cull poultry goes there... sometimes CL buyers are just way too much hassle... *no offense meant, btw. I buy off CL too*

Nope not this one. Two years ago we sold to a guy who tried to tell us all the calves we sold him were bred :/ Now it is possible that one or two could have gotten bred, and we have some great bulls, but all 60 heifers, that bull would be dead

DH was about to drive out to Minnesota and force the buyer to show him 60 bred heifers. Fortunately the buyer eventually paid, but it really soured us in the whole thing.

It was more one of those, "I'll get back to you" things. But K is right we want to wait until the grass starts growing to sell at the sale, which is April around here. so we will be beating this back and forth for a while.
