Splash is all I know it by. The hen is speckled, but the rooster has a full cape just like my blueThat is a pretty rooster. You can sure see how proud he is. What is that color pattern called? Quail?
Ok, I have to show off a little. I'm told he is not my best rooster, but Jack is beautiful and he's posing today

High breast and shallow tail is my preference![]()
I just don't know. I haven't seen a splash that dark. I know his parents were blue, but I'm not using a blue rooster. The only pair I have right now that will throw splash are Jack and a dark blue hen. I'm hoping their offspring will be as dark
I'm actually breeding blue to black and splash to black to try and get the darker blues. Then I plan to breed the darkest blues to see what blue and splash they throw. The theory is that blue/blue lightens the blue. SOP type will determine the keepers over color, but both would be niceSo you would need to breed blues, to get the darkest blue you could, and SOP?
Then breed them, and see what kind of colors you got?
I've heard Orps aren't that great of layers from several people. No personal experience though.
