Only bullseye are fertile. Best results are had 24-48 hours after lay when cell division makes the bullseye more prominent.Set 26, with a lot of Johnny's. Only 8 made lockdown...
One pip when I left for work this morning.
I still haven't heard from Sidewing, but I know what he's going to say.
I cracked 12 of Johnny's last night. 10/12 had the dots, but only 4 had the bullseye. I don't know if the dot itself denotes fertile, or if it has to be the expanded bullseye. I'm giving him one more shot. Incubator #2 will be free in two weeks, and I'm going to set his one more time. Any splash eggs collected in that timeframe will go to Sid
I set 16 from Johnny, 10 from Jack. Jack had 2 late quitters, all of Johnny's were clear. That's the second time in a row, that's why I'm done with him. I explained to him yesterday that Susan was growing out his replacement, so we'll see if he steps up
Walnut I've had both solar and wind generators here....
...for me solar worked better but I didn't have to cut trees down....wind would have worked okay. But I live close to the airport so I couldn't get then high enough to provide good steady power. My solar system worked well for years. I still have it intact....but my batteries finally gave out. And earlier this year I couldn't afford to replace them. So my 4500 watt trace inverter is just sitting there idle. With luck this year I can reset the system up. Cuz quite frankly it's a lot of money just sitting there doing nothing.
If not maybe I can find someone to make a good deal on....the inverter and charge controllers and booster.
Hopefully I can set it back up. It was always fun when the power went out...and we didn't know it.

Right now we only have a travel trailer up there. I keep a few batteries in (all the pulls from the cars, until they are stone dead) and charge from the generator with a small solar trickle charger to keep them topped up. They run the lights (converted to LED), the water pump, the radio, the gas fridge controller, and the gas furnace controls and fan.
We really want to build a getaway cabin, but the very real prospect of finding a new farm has set that aside. I'd love to do solar and geothermal, or wind and geothermal, wherever we move to as we are both telecommuters and need a reliable electrical source for our work.

Any luck on the farm hunt Walnut? Still actively looking?

Thanks MissAm (I'm still lovin the new name lol) Thanks on the comet. Those girls are such sweeties, and now I'm down to 4, from my original 8. But I have 4 of their eggs in the bator looking good!
The ankle is much better. Still a bit sore and colorful, but I'm wearing normal shoes today instead of sandals, so that's a good sign! Thanks for asking.
How's Miss Eve doing now?
No, I knew that's exactly what you meant. I was just saying that Redden started with Smith blood, too. From what I've seen, I really like what he's done with the line. That's why I always said if I added more blood it would be from Redden
Ok Ok![]()
Knew he wouldn't trust any of us, so thanks for posting the link WV!

You had THE TALK with him. Maybe he'll get the message now.
Lost a bird last night. I think was a fox, it doesn't look like a coon or possum did it.
