I am a die hard free range parent. But it really does not bother me if someone decides to help them up the ladder (usually it is an older child) My girls are surprisingly capable of climbing things meant for older children. But they are not harmed by occasionally getting help, I even expect them to say thank you.
My kids get lots of practice climbing, at home, in the yard, and sometimes at a park. Getting worked up because they are occasionally helped seems excessive.
