Friend Can't Keep Animals Alive!

Nope I am not going to give her any animals and she hasn't asked me about peafowl again. I was just wondering if I should help her with animals in general like talk to her about preventing more animals from dying or something or what? Should I just let her come to me for help? I don't know....

If she is a friend than I would try and help her research. If you are just people who know each other and don't want to help her it is ok...

Yes! You could help her with the animals that she ALREADY has! GREAT idea! You can show her how to feed them the correct food, keep them clean and healthy...how our actions towards them means a lot... etc..
If she asks for any of YOUR animals, just say that you want to keep all the ones you have for right now....

That's great advice! Hopefully her animals lives will improve (or at least their lifespan) :/ by you showing her a better way or giving suggestions.

Thanks all of you I like talking about animals anyways and so it wouldn't be a bother for me. It would be nice to help her and her animals.

Huh. Pretty shocked by your response. I certainly thought I was engaged in a discussion to clarify our positions and share our experiences. The "going and going" was my attempt to discuss and look at the various points you brought up. It now seems to me that I was expected to nod in agreement, smile, and hush up from the get go.

Quote: Nah, no need to wait. It's just, if she kept coming to ask you about the peafowl, it would have been an easy opening for talking to her about the animals, but not a necessary one. Since you will probably have to go to her, I'd just say it is especially important to approach her in a way that shows you are genuinely interested in talking about animals and feel you could help her out a lot with hers, and to do it in a really positive manner. That may help keep her from getting defensive and shutting you out. There are tons of good ideas here, from going to the library, to helping her with her animals, and you can kind of ease into those things so she won't misread you as being judgemental, or be able to easily dismiss you due to defensiveness. Do you know from your past experiences with her how she generally reacts to others telling her things she may not want to hear? Would you consider her a person who is open to listening? If so, this can help guide your approach, and others may be able to offer you even more suggestions based upon any details you can give about her.

You sound like you have a good head on your shoulders, and that you are gentle and thoughtful in your words. I think you will do the best anyone can in trying to offer assistance.

Still trolling and making snide comments i see...
Leave me alone.. i've asked you before, and i'm asking again...
When someone ASKS you to STOP... thats NOT a discussion... you know that.
Enough now, before the OPs thread gets closed...

Maybe you could 'gift' her with a simple, easy to read book on animal husbandry. After she has read it you could help her to understand what she has read. There's no need for you to help her acquire any more animal to punish.

I think she will listen.

What I really think is that you all need to calm down a little...This isn't a topic I started so people could go back and forth taking stabs at each other.

Thanks.
