Friend of mine needs help! Dog problem and neighbors being IDIOTS!

...shoot the dogs on sight once they cross her boundary.

Better check your laws first.

In most places you can only shoot when they are "in the act" of destroying/killing/harassing your property or animals

Just being "on your property" is not necessarily a reason to legally shoot them

My thoughts exactly. Only addition would be game camera for the coop, a regular camera to photograph the kids trespassing.

When my neighbors dog got 10 of our chickens, we told him and he said, "What?! Well that dog has to go down!". 5 days later, no more dog.

Sounds like he was raised on a farm. He knows a chicken killing dog doesn't stop killing. We have a small fifteen pound dog who is the worst offender of chicken killing, considering she is the only offender. Out of the two pit bulls, a dachshund, and her she has been the only one to kill the chickens and attack the duck. I was very ready to put her down the last time, killed four of the chickens. Went out and invested 120 dollars in a shock collar and gave her one last chance.

We also live in country, with loads of "free-range" dogs. Bought a water scarecrow, but that wouldn't help over a 12-acre spread. My husband uses BB gun or water hose every chance he gets. I'm a dog-lover, but I also love my chickens & they're the prey here. I've thought of getting peacocks. They can roost in trees & bother my neighbors without actually ever crossing onto their land! Ever heard a peacock's yell?

this should catch anything (click on this word link)

"Hey I just received my new Godzilla trap a week ago and I must say that it works great and I have already caught two godzillas. The only problem I’ve had is finding a place to relocate them and transporting cost are outrageous. Also trying to fit the trap under bridges and power lines on the way to the relocation site is quite the task. I did not have the manpower to set the trap so I bought a large excavator to set it. Anyway thanks again for the great product. " -Chesley Hayman

seriously, though, i would tell them you are setting large animal snare traps, and if they value their dogs they might want to be sure they stay off your property, because you are not going let any animals out of your traps that are alive

i'm tired of people thinking our chickens are so invaluable. you spend half a year raising them until they can lay, and the neighbors dog comes over and kills it in 5 seconds.

these people need to understand their animals mean less to us, than our animals mean to them. i would have no trouble shooting any animal that was attempting to kill my pets

If you are going to do sho0t the dog be careful shooting to scare away. They can get you for animal cruelity. Shoot to kill it. Shot gun and some 4 buckshot is very effective out to 50-60 yards out of a full choke gun. It will stone dead a dog if you hit him in the front half of it body. Be sure to file complaints and call animal control out everytime. Thats what the get paid for. SO if you do shoot the dog you have everything on your side.

I had a similar problem with my neighbors dog. We didn't have a leash law. We lived out in the country on 10 acres. The neighbors dogs would come over to take a dump and leave. It wasn't a big problem untill the dog came into my yard while I was gone and killed my little kitty. My husband saw him in the act and was to late to shoot on our land. He had a chance to shot him on our property again but missed. The gun made a laoud noise and the neighbor got the message and chained the dog. I swore I was going to make sure he didn't live but decided when I moved I would let it go. i HAD MY OWN ISSUES TO DEAL WITH.
