Friend told Daughter not to eat the eggs grrrrrr

There are so many things that "friends" and relatives should not talk to children about. A family member who frightens a child because the parents have not been "saved", a friend who tells children that the devil will take them away if they are not good - real life experiences!

Eggs that have not been "treated"? PLEASE ! !

My mom was raised on unpasturized milk and butter, with eggs from the egg farm across the street! (OK, it was across the dirt road) We all lived and thrived!

Oh my goodness. Sometimes people need to learn a little tact. I hope you make sure to tell them how wrong they were to tell your daughter that. People can sometimes be so ignorant.

I am lucky my hubbys family knows how much better for you and how much better farm eggs taste. Happy chickens = tasty eggies.

I explained to a friend just today how chickens are treated that produce our market eggs. She honestly didn't know and was stunned. Needless to say once my egg supply is good I'll be sending some to her in Texas

i didnt even find out until recently that raw eggs could make you sick..i am always eating cookie dough and making stuff with raw egg whites..i think its overrated.

How old is your daughter??

raw eggs can make you sick.. I forget what the illness is, ..

I cannot tell you how many raw eggs I ate while in high school..

My bro and I were into liquid breakfasts in the late 50's..

two eggs hastily beaten in a glass of milk with a spoonful off sugar..

malt o meal, cream o wheat, oatmeal in a glass with lots of milk so you could drink it down quickly.

time saved here allowed an extra few minutes in bed before school.

Jeez, maybe you could educate your friend and her kids about how commercial eggs and chickens are raised. Don't spare even one grisly detail. make sure you describe the way they live, are transported, and "processed". That should be a real education.

I got salmonella poisoning once in Mexico.

I got very, very sick and had to get IV fluids. I'm pretty sure it was from the undercooked eggs I ate for breakfast each morning. I know it's ok to leave eggs out, but I don't know how long these eggs had been left out. The grocery we went to didn't refrigerate them and they didn't refrigerate them where we stayed. Also, the eggs were very dirty and left that way. However, I've never heard of anyone getting sick from their own homegrown eggs. And yes, fully cooking does kill salmonella. Also, to get back on track, it is not your friend's place to tell your daughter that. I'd have talk with her if I were you.

talking: daughter first

friend second! it's amazing what our kids will believe from someone who may not have their best interest at heart....anyhoo-good luck.

Thanks for all the comments. I already talked with my daughter. She is 13. I guess we will see once we start getting eggs if she eats them or not. I will also tell my friend not to talk to her about the eggs anymore. We got 3 new chicks today, I am so excited.
