basic quail "stuff" i have a post in the quail setion , but would like to know your exprinces raseing them
Well there's a quide that Nikki wrote, i'll dig up the link it's a good starting point. There's no books on quail like there is on chickens, so you have to gather info as best you can.
On the pratcial side, they are tiny chicks, and tiny birds, most are a 1/2LB size. They reek worse than any other animal I know, so they are an outside bird. Unless you are raising them as a gourmet treat (they do taste fab, I have recipies), it's best to just keep a colony for tiny eggs. I keep mine in a harem for 4-5 hens per roo. Do not attempt to keep males together, bloodletting will result, they are crazy vicious. Most birds can be feather sexed, which helps.
ok thanks , and would you pay 5.00 for a almost laying - laying hen?
