She is extremely talkative today. She is roaming back and forth between the two pens. She has checked out nest boxes, food, water. I am sitting outside about ten feet from the pens.
She comes up to me every night, so I can pick her up and put her on the higher roost. If I'm later she pecks me before I pick her up.
Today she keeps fussing and coming up to me. The first three times I picked her up and pet her. The last three times she has pecked me, then stood there for me to pick get up. She lets me, I pet her, she jumps down when she's ready. She had don't this about eight times now. They have food and water, have had scratch and mealworms today.
She just came up again, but instead of coming close to be picked up, she pecked the ground a few times and we on to the next pen. Now she is starting at a hen in a nest trying to lay her egg. There are two empty nests in that pen and five empty nests in the other pen.
Is this just restlessness before egg laying? If so, why am I, all of a sudden, part of it?
She just by-passed me and went straight to the other pen, came toward me, turned around, still talking.
