Well, thank you so much for all the advice. I went and got the Corid today, so I'll get that going, and then follow up with the other things. Hopefully that will get her feeling better and all fixed up. I wanna be sure that I'm providing the best care possible for my chickie babies!!

So i appear to have more going on with my little frizzle than i originally thought. Her eyes have gotten worse. She definitely has conjunctivitis and will rarely open them now, and when she does, it's not much. Her lids seem slightly swollen when her eyes are closed. They are not getting crusty, but she does have a small amount of clear/white discharge from her left eye. She does rub them a little like they are bothering her, but fortunately she's not doing it obsessively. I've been doing alot of research, and have decided that she most likely has conjunctivitis asking with some underlying respiratory disease. She's really not showing much in the way of respiratory symptoms...no sneezing, wheezing, coughing, nasal discharge, etc. she's very vocal though, so it's hard to tell. If i really listen, i hear a little bit of a click when she breathes.
I have a plan, but i have some questions, so i could really use some advice.
I plan to treat the eyes, along with the possible respiratory disease. I plan to give her baytril inj (orally) at the dose of 10mg/kg for 5 days to address any respiratory disease. For her eyes, I'm going to try to apply teabags to see if i can get some of the external swelling down, then flush them with saline several times a day and apply antibiotic ointment to the eye and surrounding tissue.
My first question is if that sounds like a good plan of action. My other question is what would be the best ointment to use? I have erythromycin and neo-poly-bac ointment. Which of those would be better, or is there something else I should use? Also, i had started her on the corid, and wondered if i should discontinue it while she's on the baytril. She's a little thing even though she's 3 1/2 months old, and i don't want to overwhelm her system with too many meds. However, if she does have coccidiosis, i don't want it to have the opportunity to take over while I'm dealing with the other. My final question (which will also depend on the answer to the corid question) is if i should put her on any vitamin or electrolyte supplement.
I know I'm asking alot, but i want to do whatever is best for her. I plan on taking her to work with me tomorrow and having the veterinarian take a look at her, but he's no poultry specialist, so i wanted to ask the advice of some people with some experience.
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated...by me and my little pullet. I need some help with this sweet little girl!

Your plan seems good; I just have a few things to add.

First of all, why Baytril? Baytril is basically the strongest antibiotic used on chickens, but (as far as I know), it isn't licensed for use on poultry. I would try a slightly more mild antibiotic, such as Tylan, before I moved onto Baytril. The Tylan50 injectable dosage for bantams is .5ccs, and for large-fowl it is 1cc injected into one side of the breast once daily for 5 days. The Tylan200 injectable dosage for large-fowl is .5ccs, .1-.2ccs for bantams, injected into one side of the breast once daily for 3-4 days. Alternate the side of the breast that you inject into, and use a small gauge needle because Tylan can make the injection area sore. Don't give dairy products, probiotics, or Apple Cider Vinegar during Tylan (or Baytril) treatment.

In the case of the eye antibiotic ointment, I'm pretty sure that you can use either ointment that you have. I know that a lot of people use Terramycin ointment for eye infections in chickens, but I don't see why another antibiotic ointment wouldn't work, too.

As for the Corid, how long have you been treating her so far? Have you seen any improvement? If not, then Coccidiosis was probably not the problem; it was this respiratory disease that was making her weak. I would discontinue the Corid, and then start giving some vitamins/electrolytes.

I am sorry that you and your little pullet are going through this.

When i worked at the vet clinic, that was pretty much what we used for birds (granted, it wasn't often n it wasn't chickens). I plan to get an exact weight on her so i don't give her any more than she needs. I can check with the vet here, but do u know if the 10mg/kg is a daily dose? If so, maybe splitting it and doing half that twice daily would b a little easier on her. I will probably use the Neo-poly-bac ointment if u think that will be fine. I think it would b a little milder than the erythromycin. I'm glad u said that about the corid. I've been a little iffy about giving that to her all along and i think it would b too much with the baytril. Sometimes her stools are a little rough, but at other times they look normal. One more ?....are there any particular vitamins that u think are more important, or should i just get a good general vitamin tonic?

If you have experience with it, then I think that Baytril is fine. As for the vitamins, it don't think that there are any in particular that she needs--just get a good poultry vitamin mixture.

This is just my opinion, but in reading my poultry textbook, many chickens can have 2 or 3 diseases going on at once. Something like coccidiosis makes them weaker to fight off something like MG, or having IB makes them vulnerable to Cocci. I would finish the 5 day Corid treatment, and go ahead and start your antibiotic. Erythromycin and Tylan are best for MG, and Albon or DiMethox are best for coryza. I would use the Emycin ointment because it is stronger than polysporin.

U don't think that would be too much for her system? She's a banty, so she's a little bitty thing. I'll weigh her tonight, but I'm gonna guess she's not much more than a pound, if that. Also, then i wouldn't be able to give her vitamins or probiotics while she's on the corid, correct? I just don't want to knock her down too much. Right now she sleeps alot, but she's eating and drinking and responsive. She talks to me alot.

I just don't know what the best thing is to do!!!

I just wanted to post an update.....my little frizzle is doing great!!!! We finished treatment several days ago. 5 days of baytril and erythromycin ointment and everything has cleared up. Eyes open and growing!!!!

Me too!!! I was worried about her. I've finally been able to move her out with my other babies!
