My favorite little hen-Sophia- she is my avatar from when she was a chick-can not wait till we hatch out some of her chicks-(she is a little rough looking, especially her head, from the rooster)

She has a rather large comb but that's not unusual, looks like a hen to me, any eggs????

Thanks for responding! I got another bantam at the same time that appears to be a silkie mix of some sort. One of them is laying eggs but I'm not sure which. I'm guessing its the silkie because she's been trying to sit on them. I put the first eggs I got into my incubator but they are not fertile. I'm guessing that the frizzle is female or I would have fertile eggs. I gave them a couple eggs from my main coop in case they want to hatch them for me. Their feet are looking much better now. It's amazing what a little love (and Vaseline!) will do.

If you are not used to having Silkie hens you should be aware that they will set on anything [nearly] and they don't need to be laying eggs. Or even have any eggs. I had one setting for a couple days before I checked under her....she had three nice big fat , warm, round horse turds!!! OH!!!

LOL! I will keep that in mind! Silly chickens. I have not had one go completely broody yet. Just a few that occasionally "practice".

Do you have pictures of them I would love to see!!

I got these two Red Frizzled Cochins, 2 Blue Splash Cochins, 2 Blue or Blue Splash Silkies and apparently a Porcelain D'uccle.

I bought them on the 5th and I think I can already see some curling starting to happen. I didn't know they would look like ordinary chicks when I first saw them. I don't even know what shade of red they will be. For all I know they will look more buff than red.

That was sooo funny! Poor little thing. Did you give her some eggs?

Well of course I did. I let the Silkies raise my chicks for me every chance I can.
Your little Frizzles are so cute, they start to curl as soon as enough feather comes out that you can see it.
Even at three days. Most of mine that were the color of yours turned out Red. Nice clear red, I wish I could hatch some with spots, stripes, or speckles or something
.
I plan to use a Calico on the solid ones when I breed them. Takes lots of patience!!!!!!
