Frizzle thread

Pics
confirmed this morning: our beautiful frizzle is a he, and we won't be able to keep him i can send him to the farm where i sent the rest of the hatch and be done with him, or i might possibly be able to send him to a friend for at least a little while and try for some hatching eggs. and do the whole incubation process again. if i try to hatch his offspring, are the chances of getting some of his features any good? he came from a blue egg, is frizzled and has green feathered legs . i know he's just a mutt but my children love him, i'm trying to figure out my plan of attack before they wake up :/
He sure is lovely!

approximately half of his progeny should be frizzled.

Do you know anyone who can caponize him? I read that they don't get spurs, don't crow and don't fight. That way you could keep him.

i was thinking about a sex change :) can that really be done?!?!

edited: i don't mean can a sex change be done ;) i mean caponizing (which i assume means vocal chords) is it expensive? i'd LOVE to keep him!

edited again!: so i just looked up caponizing and it does not mean vocal chords!

and i'm feeling silly... i'm still learning and there's so much to learn! looks like my dreams of frizzles and blue eggs isn't happening whichever way i look at it!

LOL Yeah, I had to look it up to find out what it meant. I don't know how expensive it is for a vet to caponize him but if you could find someone local in your area that does it, I don't think it would be to expensive.

I have always had very healthy, robust frizzle Cochin's from ideal poultry. My latest order included 3 chicks. 2 are frizzled, 1 is smooth. The frizzles got a bad case of pasty butt. When I removed the poop, it seemed that it left bald spots. 6 weeks later, the bald spots are still there. Think I got Frazzles? It rained before I got pics. They look like drown rats now

Still no frizzle for me.
Got a new polish babe today, and two sultan chicks.

One of these days I WILL find a frizzle.
